    Description

VINTAGE LE MOSSER GLASS BALLOON CLOWN “LYLE” 12
    TH
    IN SERIES ALL ORIGINAL MIB
This sale is for a darling little collectible limited-edition glass figurine of a clown holding a group of balloons.
This piece was made by the Mosser Glass Company in Cambridge, Ohio back in 1981 and was the 12
    th
clown made in this series (Mosser Glass made several series of different clowns and this is the first series).
The box reads “All The World Loves A Clown” and this series is known as the “Balloon Clown”.
It is all original and in mint condition and comes with its original box and printed paper insert.
This one is made in a deep cobalt blue colored glass.
Due to the small number of these made they should increase in value in the future.
This clown has been in my personal collection since 1981.
See my last photo to see what the entire group of this series of clowns looks like as a group.
Just to be clear, only the one clown with the name mentioned in the title is for sale here.
The idea was to make a limited number of these each month, each one in a different color, and each clown would then have a different name starting with the letter “A” and continuing on down the alphabet.
In this case the clown’s name is “Lyle” and the top of the box is so marked.
There were 16 clowns made in this series.
At the time, back in the 1980’s, new glass pieces made in this “limited edition” manner were a very “hot” collectable and so popular that there were numerous “new glass” shows being promoted around the country.
The figure is marked as follows: The clown’s name is marked in the glass on a small circular panel in its back.
On the rear side of the clown at the base there is an “M” for Mosser Glass and the number “81” for 1981.
I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability.
Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color.
However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures.
I will get back to you as soon as I am able.
I want your transaction with me to be exactly the way I want mine to be when I am the buyer.

    Age and Condition
This piece dates to circa 1981.
The clown figurine is in pristine mint original condition.
Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item.
There are no chips, flea bites, repairs, cracks or hairlines to the glass.
It comes with the original box and small printed paper insert from the factory.
Please keep in mind these photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is.
Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.
It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.
    Approximate Dimensions
The figure stands about 3.5” (8.9 cm) tall.
    Approximate Weight
About 6 ounces (170 grams) including the box.
